How to manually add German translation files to your WPEP

With the release of WPEP 1.11 the native translation to German has been removed.

However, you can still have your backend in German.

To do so, you’ll need to install the Loco Translate plugin. You can do that following these steps:

Step 1:

Click Plugins in your WordPress sidebar.

Step 2:

Use the search bar to look for the Loco Translate plugin.

Step 3:

It’ll come up as part of the search results. Click the Install button on the top right corner of the widget.

Step 4:

Once the plugin has been installed and is active, you’ll need to download the WPEP German translation files here: Download German Translation Files.

Step 5:

Now you’ll need to upload them to Loco Translate. The easiest way to do it is through an FTP connection.

To do that, start an FTP connection and follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to wp-content/
  2. If you don’t already have a languages directory, create one.
  3. Then create a plugins directory inside the languages directory.
  4. Now upload the german translation file wpep-de_DE.mo to the plugins directory
  5. In the end you’ll have something like wp-content/languages/plugins/wpep-de_DE.mo
